This chocolate bar is made from various organic ingredients: cacao from Dominican Republic & Peru; coconut palm sugar from Indonesia; coconut milk and coconut flakes from Sri Lanka, all grown by small farmer co-ops.

When farmers organize into co-ops they gain crucial market access, run their business democratically, and decide together how to invest in their communities. FUNDOPO, one of Equal Exchange's cacao partners in Dominican Republic, has been organizing producers since 2002 and is now a co-operative of over 2,000 farmers. In recent years the co-op has experienced lower yields due to climate change and aging cacao farms. The co-op is focusing on increasing productivity for members.
