Most teas–even those that are certified as fair trade–come from large plantations where workers have little say and are trapped in a system of dependency. The small farmers who grow Equal Exchange teas control their land and their livelihoods. Together, they're building an alternative tea model and a farmer-led future for the tea industry.
Equal Exchange is proud to partner with family-run peppermint farms in the United States. One of the farms in eastern Washington is run by two brothers who oversee the management of the crops and finances, while family members fill positions in the office and other areas of the farming operation. The family takes great care in the growing and harvesting of their high quality, organic peppermint.
