Mata Traders jewelry is handmade by artisans working with Tara Projects in Delhi, India. Tara stands for “Trade Alternative Reform Action.” This organization provides operational and production support as well as representation and marketing efforts for 25 artisan groups. Each group specializes in a particular craft technique. The artisan groups that work directly in jewelry making use many different natural materials to craft Mata Traders’ jewelry collections. 

Tara also supports non formal and vocational schools attached to its artisan communities. They provide educational, health and wellness, finance, and environmental initiatives. They’ve opened a few health centers in areas of need, led management programs for village cleanup, rainwater harvesting, pond repairing and cleaning, and tree plantings.
